Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary became first speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly

i. Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) became the first speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly on 10 June 2014. Chary won the assembly election from Bhupalpalli constituency in Warangal district.
ii. The Speaker of the state Assembly is similar to the Lok Sabha Speaker and the role of the state assembly is same that of the speaker of the Lok Sabha.


Biography of Dilip Kumar entitled The Substance and the Shadow released

i. The Substance and the Shadow, the biography of 91-year-old-thespian Dilip Kumar was released on 10 June 2014 in Mumbai by Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Aamir Khan.
ii. The biography in form of memoir has been penned by Uday Tara Nayar, a former journalist.
iii. The book has detailed the ups and downs of the legend of Bollywood who was born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan and adopted the screen name of Dilip Kumar


Sachin Aggarwal receives 'Student Honour' in the Home of Adelaide Oval

i. Sachin Aggarwal has been named as one of seven International Student Ambassadors for South Australia.
ii. Sachin, who is originally from Hoshiarpur (Punjab) is studying 'Master of Professional Accounting and Finance' at the University of South Australia in Adelaide.
iii. Sachin was chosen for the student ambassador role by StudyAdelaide, a statutory authority of the South Australian Government. The ambassadors are leaders in the international student community who spread the word about Adelaide, the South Australian capital and premier student city.

  Netherlands beat England 1-0 to enter men's World Cup final

i. Olympic silver medalists The Netherlands defeated England 1-0 to enter the final of the men's hockey World Cup at the Kyocera Stadium in The Hague, Netherlands on Friday.
ii. Chasing their fourth World Cup title, hosts Netherlands rode on a penalty corner conversion by Mike van der Weerden in the 31st minute to overcome the dogged England defence.
iii. Van der Weerden sent a drag flick, from Netherlands' second penalty corner, soaring into the net to the left of English goalkeeper George Pinner, who warded off many raids by the rampant Dutch forwards on Friday.
iv. Netherlands now await the winner of the second semifinal between defending champions Australia and Pan-American challenger Argentina, who have made the men's semifinal for the first time in World Cup history.
v. The final will be played on Sunday.

SBI partners with Ezetap Mobile to launch mPOS solution

i. State Bank of India has partnered with payments service provider, Ezetap Mobile Solutions, to deploy mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution.
ii. SBI plans to deploy 5,00,000 point-of-sale terminals within the next five years, it said in a release. "Mobile POS has the power to transform payments and commerce. It can be deployed easily and at low cost in every corner of the country," SBI's deputy managing director S K Mishra said.
iii. The SBI-Ezetap platform would allow the bank to provide value-added services for merchants and consumers from a single, secure POS device and application, he added.

Note: i. The Ezetap solution turns any merchant's mobile device into a point-of-sale that is able to read any type of card and complete any type of financial transaction ranging from a credit card sale to a real-time bill payment, to an ATM cash withdrawal or deposit.
ii. The mPOS solution will be made available to the customers of both SBI as well as its associate banks across the country.
